Guess Who Got A Facelift?

We did!
We are looking to get back into the groove of blogging a couple of times a week and I wanted to have a fresh start!  So... here we are!

Oh hey there... sorry I have been M.I.A. recently.  I haven't really been sitting at home doing nothing-- I actually don't think I've stopped moving for the past three months!  It has been a great summer though!  I was able to celebrate my 28th birthday, go to an amazing concert as well as go to two of my college roommate's weddings!

How cute?!?
First up was Anna's wedding in Wilmington, NC.  We all stayed at this little Inn that reminded me of Melrose Place.  It was it's own little community!  Such a great little place.  We all basically stayed in Carly & Kyle's room; room #7 :)

Hanging on the balcony before dinner on Friday
We were able to go around Wilmington and see the city since we weren't part of the wedding party.  Wilmington is such a great city!  Friday night was a great night for all of us to catch up.  We got to have dinner with one of my favorite people, Rooney!! I haven't seen him since college and it was so great!  I love you Roon-er-roo-- thank you for showing us a great time Friday night!

Saturday morning we had a great brunch and prepared ourselves for a fun night.  The ceremony was held at the Atrium (my 2nd stop there this summer) and it was beautiful!

1, 2, 3... Pose!
I always love being back with my girls!  And, of course, we couldn't go the whole visit without taking the traditional 'Summit Girls' pic...

Anna made a gorgeous bride and I have never seen her smile so big!  I am so happy for you Nana :) I love you!
Mr. & Mrs. Preston Smith!!

Ahhhhhh :)
Next up was Carly's wedding in Newport, RI!  I had never been to Newport and it was an amazing place!  So beautiful!  We were able to hang out at the bar at the hotel before the rehearsal dinner and the views were amazing!

Rehearsal dinner was a Clam Bake!  Such a great idea!  We ate like kings and it was so great to be around such great friends and family!

I mean... could it be any better?
Gorgeous table for many people :)

Everyone!

The wedding day was perfect! It started out rainy, but ended up being beautiful!  Carly made a beautiful bride!  We all had a great day being pampered at the salon and getting ready together in the suite!
Gorgeous girl on her big day!
Laura and Niki :)

It was great being able to hang out with the girls again at another college bestie's wedding!  I love these girls and don't know where I would be without them!
Anna, CJ, Ashley, Carly, Me and Niki :)
I was so glad to be a part of Carly & Kyle's big day!  It was the perfect reflection of your relationship and I love you both so much!  I couldn't be more happy for the both of you!
Mr. & Mrs. Kyle Maher!!

All in all it has been a great summer!  I am glad that I was able to do all that I did.  Time to buckle down and get ready for the Fall.  I love Fall weather and I cannot wait to see all that it brings!  Virgin Mobile Freefest, Waterfowl Festival, the holidays with family and friends... and... my 10 YEAR HIGH SCHOOL REUNION!
Here we go!

Color Run 2013

So, I know it is a little late... but I am finally posting about the Color Run!  I did it!!  I think I actually ran a lot more than I did last time.  Brittany helped a lot in actually making me run.  I complained a lot-- she will certainly attest to that lol... But, in the end she made me shut up and keep going!
Before & After

I was a lot less prepared than last time.  I totally gave up on the couch to 5k training that I had started a few months back.  Running just isn't something that I enjoy lol... but, it is something that is good for me so I am glad that I did it again.  Honestly, when the issue with my vacation days at work came up and I was wondering if I was going to be able to go I felt a little sense of relief inside.  It is something that I knew I should do, but because of my lack of training I didn't really want to.  I talked with my Aunt and she said that since I made the commitment and already paid the money I should really just buck up and do it.  I also knew, deep down, that I would regret it if I didn't.  I would have been letting myself down.

Brittany and I finished together :) I am not sure what our time was... she has that information somewhere on her Nike app.
And, according to that app Brittany and I ran a total of 3.36 miles that day!  Woo hooooo!

Does make for a cool picture though :)

This year I also got to participate in the big "color throw" at the end of the race party.  This is something that I wanted to do last year, but we all had something to get to after the race and we skipped it.  It looks like so much fun on the videos of the race and its the big famous picture of the "after party" of the color run.  Let me just tell you... its looks fun, but you cannot breathe once you are in it.  What they are throwing is colored cornstarch.  When that gets in your mouth and throat it turns into a paste.  It tastes terrible and isn't really a breathable substance lol...

Due to the bombings in Boston we were not allowed to carry any bags into or during the race.  Because of that I got to purchase one of the most attractive fanny pacs you will ever see!  It was so handy during the race!  I, like the dummy that I am sometimes, forgot my phone at the house.  Luckily Brittany allowed me to take some pictures during the race in order to document on the blog :)  I didn't edit all of my photos from that day, so in a lot of them we just look dirty.  Those nifty iPhone apps really help to make the colors stand out a lot more than usual lol...

I also got to meet up with the bride, Jamie, and her bridesmaid, Corinne :)

Even during all of the struggle of the race, I put on a somewhat brave face and finished! I loved the quote that I found (the colorful one above) right before the race.  I figured it was a bit of a sign.  I know that 5k races aren't the hardest thing in the world, but for me it was a goal that I had set for myself.  A goal that I wanted to reach!  I may not have run the entire thing, but I am proud of myself for making progress from last year's race.  Who knows... maybe I will do it again!

Have you done the Color Run? What did you think about it?

Grab That Net And Catch That Beautiful Butterfly, Pal!

It's wedding season!!

It is now June 13th and I have already been to two weddings! Two more to go so far :)

The weekend of Memorial Day I traveled down to NC to see one of my close friends from high school, Jamie Nolan, get married!  It was a beautiful day and a perfect wedding!

Jamie and new hubby Brian :)
I was obsessed with Jamie's dress! It was a blush colored tulle dress... omg so beautiful!  She had a gorgeous lace veil during the ceremony and changed to this FAB birdcage veil for the beginning of the reception.

It was really great to be a part of their special day! I also loved being able to catch up with old friends from high
school!
Whitney, Mary, Caitlin and Me!
Mary and Whitney left a little early, but Caitlin and I stayed and chatted the whole night!  It was so great to catch up!
Me and Caitlin :)
Caitlin, the beautiful Bride and Me
After some amazing break dancing by the groom it was time for me to go home and go to bed.  It was a fabulous weekend in NC and I cannot wait to go back at the end of June to do it all over again with my bestest friends in the whole wide world :)

The next wedding I attended was my Aunt Suzi's!  It was a spectacular Eastern Shore wedding!

When you think of a perfect little Backyard wedding this was it... pulled pork, potato salad, cupcakes, cocktails and crabs!  Such a great time!

It was great to have all of my family and friends with us there!  My bestie Katie was my date to the wedding lol... she is an honorary family member!  She comes over and hangs out with my family even when I am not there lol...

The bride and groom were beeming all day!  It was so great to see my Aunt Suzi so happy!  It was a stressful last couple of months with the wedding planning, packing and moving to Italy!  I loved every minute of it!

Overall it has been a great wedding season so far!  The next two are going to be trips down memory lane!  I cannot wait for those!

Rule #76- No excuses. Play like a Champion :)

Blogger 3,000 :)

Oh hey there...

I cannot believe it, but today I hit 3,000 views!

Whaaaaaaat?!?

I cannot explain how great that makes me feel!  I know that I have sort of lagged in the consistency of my actual blog posts... oops!  But, this is something that really brings a sense of pride to me!  Woo hooooooo!

I have been pretty busy in the past couple of weeks.  We had the 10th annual Dave Haslup/Lou Gehrig Athletic Scholarship Foundation's benefit golf tournament on Saturday, May 4th.  We had 22 great teams that helped come out and support a wonderful foundation.  I had a great time doing the 50/50 raffle with Betsy... we got a little lost on the course but eventually found our way lol...

Other than that I have just been working my little (not really little-- lets not kid ourselves Carlye) buns off!  I was able to take the day yesterday and celebrate Mother's Day with my Mama in Salisbury.  I missed out on the pedicure (my time management skills are a little lacking lol), but we did get to have a really yummy dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse.  Jason was with us too, which made it all the more special.  BTW I am super proud of my little brother, Jason, on his new job!  So excited for you Jay-- can't wait for us both to be on the "other side" haha...

Also, this weekend is the Color Run!  I have to admit, I have not been training like I had said I would.  I am pretty disappointed in myself; however, I am still going to do it!  I may not be able to run the whole thing (which was my plan), but I will do it!  I have told Brittany that I am a little nervous about not making it, but she has assured me that she will not let me die since she is, in fact, CPR certified hahaha...  Only 4 more days!

I really cannot express how much this milestone means to me!  It has been a really fun journey and I cannot wait to keep going!  I will be taking picutures and giving you all a full update on how the 5k goes this weekend.  Here we gooooo!

Love you guys!

I Am A Princess...

Hello!  This post is inspired by my evening of Disney movie viewing!  I am obsessed with the Disney Princesses and have been ever since I was a little girl!  I have always wanted to be a princess!  Every year when I was little I am pretty sure I bothered my Mom to be a princess and she never gave in lol... I joke and tell her it is all her fault that I am such a priss now :)  She was quite the crafty mum and made almost all of my costumes when I was younger (while the trick-or-treating lasted at least-- that is a whole other story).  I was a clown one year... hula hoop around the waist and all.  I was a "Starry-Starry Night" one year... I think she just found a fun fabric at JoAnn's and wanted to use it lol...  I was never the pretty, pretty princess that I wanted to be.  So Traci... this obsession with all things pink, sparkly and pretty is your fault... ha!  Just kidding-- I love you!
Case in point- The tiara I found on NYE one year...

Anyway... tonight I heard a poem that made me realize exactly what I like about the Disney Princess 'model' if you will.  They hold within them all of the qualities that I strive to carry myself... I know this probably sounds so stupid-- but bear with me.

I am a Princess.
I am brave sometimes. I am scared sometimes. Sometimes, I am brave even when I am scared.
I believe in loyalty and trust. I believe loyalty is built on trust.
I try to be kind. I try to be generous. I am kind even when others are not so generous.
I am a Princess.
I think standing up for myself is important. I think standing up for others is more important.
But standing with others is most important.
I am a Princess.
I believe compassion makes me strong. Kindness is power. And family is the tightest bond of all.
I have heard I am beautiful. I know I am strong.
I am a Princess. Long may I reign.

I loved this!  I think it is the perfect summation of how I feel, and would like to feel, about myself.  This may be something that a lot of you think is really silly of me, but I really do believe this.  It's not a bad way to look at life, is it?  I surely think not.

It has been really hard to think of who my absolute favorite Disney Princess is... it is honestly a 3-way tie!  I can't decided between Ariel, Cinderella and Aurora!  Ugh-- so hard lol...

Who is your favorite Disney Princess?
