Before & After |
I was a lot less prepared than last time. I totally gave up on the couch to 5k training that I had started a few months back. Running just isn't something that I enjoy lol... but, it is something that is good for me so I am glad that I did it again. Honestly, when the issue with my vacation days at work came up and I was wondering if I was going to be able to go I felt a little sense of relief inside. It is something that I knew I should do, but because of my lack of training I didn't really want to. I talked with my Aunt and she said that since I made the commitment and already paid the money I should really just buck up and do it. I also knew, deep down, that I would regret it if I didn't. I would have been letting myself down.
Brittany and I finished together :) I am not sure what our time was... she has that information somewhere on her Nike app.
And, according to that app Brittany and I ran a total of 3.36 miles that day! Woo hooooo!
This year I also got to participate in the big "color throw" at the end of the race party. This is something that I wanted to do last year, but we all had something to get to after the race and we skipped it. It looks like so much fun on the videos of the race and its the big famous picture of the "after party" of the color run. Let me just tell you... its looks fun, but you cannot breathe once you are in it. What they are throwing is colored cornstarch. When that gets in your mouth and throat it turns into a paste. It tastes terrible and isn't really a breathable substance lol...
Due to the bombings in Boston we were not allowed to carry any bags into or during the race. Because of that I got to purchase one of the most attractive fanny pacs you will ever see! It was so handy during the race! I, like the dummy that I am sometimes, forgot my phone at the house. Luckily Brittany allowed me to take some pictures during the race in order to document on the blog :) I didn't edit all of my photos from that day, so in a lot of them we just look dirty. Those nifty iPhone apps really help to make the colors stand out a lot more than usual lol...
Have you done the Color Run? What did you think about it?
I also got to meet up with the bride, Jamie, and her bridesmaid, Corinne :)
Even during all of the struggle of the race, I put on a somewhat brave face and finished! I loved the quote that I found (the colorful one above) right before the race. I figured it was a bit of a sign. I know that 5k races aren't the hardest thing in the world, but for me it was a goal that I had set for myself. A goal that I wanted to reach! I may not have run the entire thing, but I am proud of myself for making progress from last year's race. Who knows... maybe I will do it again!
