2013 is in full swing! Back in the beginning of December I signed up to run The Color Run for the 2nd time! My brother's girlfriend, Brittany, (follow her at http://fitbottomedgirllivinginanunfitworld.blogspot.com) and I decided we were going to start a team this time around-- so we became Shore Runnin' Fast! I am a sucker for any cheesy Eastern Shore pun lol...
I completed The Color Run for the first time back in September. I had seen a video for the run and decided that if I was ever going to do a 5k it was going to be this one! This run isn't timed AND I get to look like a rainbow at the end of it! Hello?? This sounded perfect to me! Well... I didn't really think this through. I couldn't run if my life depended on it! I was a ballerina all of my life! I can only do a ballerina run! So, when it came time for me to start "training" it was a bit of a joke. My friend Katie, bless her heart, was doing everything she could to try and get me to train. It was the last thing I wanted to do and, in my mind, I didn't think I needed to train. It was only 3 miles... HA! When it came to be race day I was not prepared at all! I got to the starting line and was ready to go with the rest of my girlfriends. We started and I ran for a few minutes. Then I hit a rock and completely lost my stride. All of my friends were sooo far ahead of me! Not only was I behind, but I also couldn't really run to catch up. So, I ended up doing the race alone and walked most of it. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I wasn't prepared and it was so painful. It was then that I decided that I would run it again and that the next time I would run the whole thing!
I came across this Color Runner beginner 5k training plan on Pinterest. This will be my new training schedule!! I have about 19 weeks until the race! I figure I can do two weeks of each "week" of exercises. Hopefully this will build up my strength and I will be able to complete the run!! Brittany has been cheering me on the entire time since we signed up. I am thankful for her and the fact that she will be running with me! I cannot wait to do this and I am very excited to see my new time! Last time I finished in about 47 mins. New goal?? I want to make it in 30 mins!! Wish me luck!!
I have yet to sign up for a Color Run! Three miles definitely is challenging, though it may seem easy. Best of luck with your training--you can do it!
